In Focus: Stewardship January

Focus Fundraising

Several years ago, I wrote about ‘Stewardship January,’ a fundraiser’s version of ‘Dry January’ to pause from many of our regular development activities and intentionally focus on this one important thing. While you should still dig into your year-end data to gauge results in January, among many other things, creating a list of donors to connect with and making sure you do it early in the year will go a long way in strengthening ties and building rapport.

What are your go-to stewardship activities, aside from calls, emails, and texts? Are you sending gratitude videos to donors? Are you or other staff at your organization making a point to connect with top donors (and perhaps some midlevel donors with capacity)? Let us know what's working for you!
