How’s your mental health?

Seems like many of us are working hard to keep the negative political and economic noise down, while looking for ways to boost energy and optimism. I’m definitely in that camp!

Below, we share how some of the Focus team are staying positive, we’ve got a new blog on mid-level donors, and we´re welcoming a new client. As always, we’re happy to connect with a 30-minute complimentary consultation to talk through fundraising challenges, discuss how to message more effectively to your donors, or even explore year-end strategies (yes, I said it….year-end is coming!).

Building a Mid-Level Donor Program

Strengthening Your Midlevel Giving Program with Focus Fundraising

Noticing a slowdown in giving? If you're in the DC area, your organization might be feeling the ripple effects of government and corporate layoffs. When donations dip, it can actually be the perfect time to double down and re-energize your donor base—especially your mid-level supporters (you know, the “forgotten middle”).

In this blog post, Focus consultant Jackie Beres breaks down why these donors matter and how to show them the right kind of love. From spotting who they are to keeping them engaged, Jackie offers practical tips for building a stronger, more intentional mid-level program.

New Client Spotlight:
Disability Rights California

We’re thrilled to be working with Disability Rights California, the largest disability protection and advocacy organization in the country. They’re doing incredible work to advance the rights of Californians with disabilities, and we’re excited to partner with them to help build private support to grow their impact.

Resisting Through Action:
Where Are You Finding Hope?

In these challenging times, hope isn’t something we wait for; it’s something we have to create through action. Every act of advocacy, generosity, and community-building is a powerful act of resistance. But this is hard stuff!

We reached out to some of our Focus consultants to find out how they’re finding hope, and here’s what they shared:

I’m getting out in nature as much as possible - hikes, drives, being together with friends. Also loving the _stillwerise community on Instagram (“a community for good” that loves to needle those in power who just can’t get out of their own way).

I’m finding hope these days by focusing on the bright spots in my life. My sister-in-law is getting married soon, and there’s nothing like a wedding to remind me of all the love, joy, and fresh starts still out there.

I’m trying to re-engage more with friends and colleagues. I’m making time to connect with individuals, both personal and professional relationships - instead of putting off that lunch or coffee, I’m making it happen!
